On the Circuit: Stacy Peralta and Cast (Made in America)
Peralta made his name at Sundance seven years ago with his award winning Dogtown and Z-Boys, a documentary examining the pioneers of the 1970s Zephyr skating team. This year, Peralta returns to Sundance with Made in America where he explores the historical, social, and political conditions and implications of the war zone now known as South Central Los Angeles. At the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, Zoom In Online’s Megan Cunningham sat down to not only talk with Stacy, but also three ex-members of the rival 2008 Sundance Film Festival gangs who are featured prominently in the film. Listen in as they all discuss the catalysts for South Central’s past, how to do deal with its violent present, and what to do for its hopeful future.
